Tana Toraja Weekend

We started our trip to Tana Toraja on Friday evening and arrived there at 3.30am, the drive to our hotel was exhausting.
We get up early in the morning to get a good breakfast and afterwards we drove to the village Tana Toraja.

We learned more about the religion over there the religion is animalism, if a person die they do mummy the person and make a altar for the person and the person is infront located, the people of the village have to wait for a while which depends between the family, sometime 7 months or it can also be 7 years.

The people in the village earn money with creating pictures and they use the material from the tree. The people must work a lot because they spend there money into ceremony.

For a ceremony a bull will be slaughted.
If the family is rich the slaughted 30 bulls, and one bull cost a lot!
The people which join the ceremony have to offer them a present, if they bring a pig - the family which receives the present have to give it back to them when they have also a ceremony.

The people do not bury the Mummy, they belief they must be near to the sky, because of this they build houses or casket and bring them to the mountains.

This is a house where the rice is stored, one family needs in one month 60kg rice:
